China’s genetic testing market is growing quickly, as are the claims being made by companies operating in the industry.

While vendors tout the technology’s ability to save lives and help us understand risk, experts say that greater regulation is needed to protect the public.

Before 2014, China’s genetic testing services were unregulated. That year, related laws and regulations were introduced and the sector was included in the 13th Five-Year Plan.
